“Promoting innovation, giving young people a chance, and strengthening the idea of competition in a positive sense – the 3rd opti BOX AWARD once again combines this in an outstanding way”, opti Director Cathleen Kabashi is certain. And Silvia Nadenbousch for Lars Brillen from Switzerland, the winner of last year’s opti BOX Award, recommends that young start-ups take part in the award: “opti offers the opportunity to come into contact with many industry representatives within three days – be they opticians, media, manufacturers or agents. Winning the opti BOX Award was the icing on the cake for us in 2023, as we were able to learn and benefit a lot from the trade fair alone.”
The criteria of the 3rd opti BOX AWARD –Four criteria decide: In addition to innovation and design, it is functionality and sustainability that are the deciding factors for the award in this combination.
The opti BOX AWARD 2024 is endowed with a credit on the opti stand rental 2024 and 2025 in the amount of 1,000 EUR each plus marketing PR support from the partners eyebizz and Ebner Media Group in a four-digit amount.
The Jury
“It is always worthwhile to support young and innovative start-ups and to appreciate their creativity and passion for optometry. For this reason, I am very pleased to be part of the opti BOX AWARD jury” said Sabine Siegmund, optician and owner of Siegmund Augenoptik & Hörakustik in Pattensen. The international jury is made up of a mix of different areas of expertise in optometry:
- Daniel Feldman, (yours truly) Publisher/Executive Editor THE OPTICAL JOURNAL
- Cathleen Kabashi, Head of opti 2024
- Ingo Rütten, Editor-in-Chief of eyebizz, Partner of the opti BOX AWARD
- Sabine Siegmund, optician/owner at Siegmund Augenoptik & Hörakustik in Pattensen
and new:
- a public vote – this can be cast via the opti CONNECT platform from November 2023.
The winner 2023 was Lars Brillen from Bern. They won the second opti BOX AWARD 2023. Why their enthusiasm lasted beyond the award and why they recommend participation to all young labels: “The interest of the industry magazines from Germany and Switzerland was great. Winning the opti Award gave us free PR. The discount on the opti trade fair stand as well as the media support from eyebizz are also very valuable and helpful for a young label like LARS Brillen,” encourages Silvia Nadenbousch from Lars Brillen colleagues from the frame sector.
“The opti BOX offers young eyewear labels the opportunity to present themselves to the trade fair public without having to invest heavily in their own trade fair stand. The feedback from the international jury of experts gives you an assessment of your own project and is very valuable – even if another label wins the award,” Silvia Nadenbousch continues.
