In the Northern Hemisphere, spring soon unfolds and its arrival heralds the season of new beginnings and fresh starts. Animals awaken from hibernation, and newborn lambs have fun in the warming sun. Springtime is also a good moment to update one’s fashion-savvy, and spruce up wardrobes with sleek and chic eyewear. Stylish optical frames and sunglasses in a variety of materials, shapes, and colors offer both creative and diverse possibilities.

Götti Switzerland launches the spring season with two elegant designs, which are masterpieces of craftsmanship. The frames – Hanlon and Heins – are created from solid acetate sheets, and then hand polished to a glorious, warm, and glistening sheen. Retro shapes crafted in beautiful colorations of Atlantic blue, moss green, black grey, and smoky green.

Roland Wolf, founder of Rolf Spectacles, was the driving force behind the discovery, and subsequent use of the Euphorbiaceae plant, to create the substance collection. Grown in tropical climates, the plant shoots up very quickly and renews every year. “This bean plant material does not compete with food crops,” observed Wolf, “and for frames has great advantages – it’s light, stable and sustainable.”

“Good Vibrations” is a memorable song that was composed by Brian Wilson with lyrics by Mike Love. It was an immediate hit performed by the Beach Boys when released in 1966. Love says the lyrics were “inspired by the nascent Flower Power movement,” and the song is now considered a modern classic.  The music and lyrics also inspired Hemp Eyewear to create an eye-catching sunglass design for the brand’s Superfood Series, composed of 100% Tumeric powder and water. Frames are handcrafted in the company’s Edinburgh Scotland atelier by skilled artisans.
