Eyes of Faith delivers recent Wear & Share® proceeds to Christian mission organization Sight Ministries, bringing the total donated pairs of prescription glasses, reading glasses, and sunglasses to more than ten thousand since the formation of their partnership.
Eyes of Faith Optical continues to increase its commitment to Christian mission organization Sight Ministries with the presentation of a $5,000 Wear & Share donation check at the annual Vision Source member meeting, “The Exchange,” in Las Vegas, Nevada. For every frame sold from its Eyes of Faith and licensed brand collections, the Eyes of Faith Foundation donates the funds to Sight Ministries to purchase eyewear for distribution during global missions. The latest donation resulted from its February and March ophthalmic and sunglass sales.
“Since the inception of Eyes of Faith’s Wear & Share program in 2011, Sight Ministries has received the funds to deliver prescription glasses, reading glasses, and sunglasses to more than ten thousand people around the world who would otherwise have no access,” said Dr. Glenn Ellisor, Sight Ministries board member, and founder and CEO of Vision Source. “The gift of sight alone is life-changing, but Eyes of Faith and Sight Ministries exist to share God’s love through these missions, and we believe that is an immeasurably valuable gift.”
In addition to providing new glasses and sunglasses for multiple Sight Ministries global missions since 2011, Eyes of Faith has also helped to contribute human resource support via doctor and optician grants in conjunction with the Fellowship of Christian Optometrists International. President and Co-founder Jim Schneider has also personally delivered Wear & Share eyewear during 2011 and 2012 Kenyan mission trips.
“Presenting this latest donation at an optical industry meeting is especially significant to us,” said Schneider. “While we deliver the funds to help Sight Ministries carry out their mission, we can simultaneously thank so many of our current optical partners, and connect with potential like-minded doctors and opticians to make an even bigger impact in the lives of people who desperately need someone to reach out and show them the meaning of hope.”
About Sight Ministries:
Sight Ministries strives to visit isolated areas of countries, including Kenya, Turkey, Panama, Peru, Haiti and many others, where eye care is not readily available. Each mission team works with local pastors to construct mobile clinics at churches and even under trees in remote villages, to provide eye care and supply eyewear to long lines of adults and children who typically have no access to these services. During mission trips, the Sight Ministries-assembled team performs eye exams and dispenses prescription eyewear, readers, or eye protection via sunglasses to residents who would likely never receive eye care.
About Eyes of Faith:
Eyes of Faith Optical was founded in 2008 by husband and wife team Jim and Amy Schneider of West Middlesex, PA, as a way to contribute to the global mission of serving people in need and fill a void within the optical industry for eyewear specifically created with faith-appreciative shoppers in mind. The Eyes of Faith family of eyewear brands includes the Eyes of Faith® house brand, as well as licensed brands VeggieTales®, Not of This World®, and Women of Faith™ (launching Fall 2013), all of which are distributed to independent eye care professionals in the continental United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, and Dominica. The company also recently launched its “Eyes of Faith Storehouse” e-commerce website at eofshop.com, at which consumers can Wear & Share with John 3:16 Eye Chart Tees, and a reciprocal t-shirt is donated to missions for each of their purchases. Additional t-shirt designs and accessories complementary to the eyewear collections are slated for availability at the online store by summer 2013.
Eyes of Faith’s vision for all of its products is to encourage people to “wear” their eyewear and clothing, and “share” their faith through the gift of sight or another t-shirt that is donated as a result of their purchase and delivered around the world via faith-based missions.
