Kickstarting Monday: Ion Glasses

The Optical Journal - Optical News With Independent Views

Ion-glasses-Ion Glasses have been around for awhile, and now they are committed to completing the Ion Project via Indiegogo. Here is what they say:

ION Glasses are the first-ever glasses — optical or sunglasses — which interact with your smartphone or tablet. They offer you several functions, such as notifications, remote control, alerts in case of loss and customization.

All of this is possible because ION Glasses incorporate a Bluetooth 4.0 chip, a battery, a multi-color LED set, a buzzer and two buttons. All these components are inserted into one of the frame temples. But you will be the only one that knows it, because ION Glasses boast a fashionable and appealing design, whether used as optical glasses or as sunglasses.

We know technology eyewear is hot, whether its 3D printed eyeglasses, google glass or has a GPS function. This sounds pretty cool, because you can put your prescription in the eyewear and don’t have a funky block of metal sticking in your face.

All I can say, is over the next several years, there will be so many wearable technology choices for us to make… .but the biggest decision is How connected do you want to be?
