Have you looked at your company LinkedIn page recently? Do you even have a business page? LinkedIn is THE BUSINESS social media site. Launched in 2003, with an IPO in 2011 under NYSE, LinkedIn boasts more than 175 million registered users. LinkedIn ranks as the 13th most visited website according to Alexa.
While the average user spends over 6 ½ hours a month on Facebook, LinkedIn users spend a paltry 17 minutes. The difference is, LinkedIn is a no-nonsense professional networking site. You can count on one hand the number of times you’ve ever seen someone on LinkedIn talk about what they are making for dinner.
So what does LinkedIn have going for it? Most everyone who is serious about their business is on LinkedIn. LinkedIn is a terrific place to promote yourself and your business. LinkedIn is also a must if you are seeking a position anywhere. LinkedIn may not have the splash and crowds of Facebook, but it has the decision-makers for businesses large and small.
LinkedIn recently redesigned their Company Pages. While most of you know about personal pages on LinkedIn, companies have been able to promote corporate pages for some time, though in the same boring layout of a personal page, making it difficult to distinguish between the two. The new streamlined design makes it easier to find a company, easier to search for relevant details about a company and allows for a large image that helps promote your brand.
There are a lot of social media sites out there, all serving special audiences and interests. As a business owner/manager, LinkedIn is one of the most important sites you and your company can appear in. Take the time to join. Take the time to set up your Company Page.
If you don’t have a Company Page, it’s time to set one up. Both future employees and future customers from the professional world will be checking you out there. Here is a video from the folks at LinkedIn to help you with that task.
