Once more the Barcelona eyewear firm reaffirms its bold, rebellious nature, bringing us a cheerful campaign to celebrate that adrenalin rush, that yearning for a good time, helping us revisit the most amazing parties of our lives celebrated in Barcelona. Images exuding spontaneity convey us to the most vibrant, the most entertaining Barcelona.
The new Etnia Barcelona Mambo Collection is, by nature, optimistic, eclectic, and unique. A tribute to the values of the brand: form and color in their purest state. Five new models of oversized sunglasses, inspired by the psychedelia of a Barcelona that never sleeps. A representation of the enthusiasm, joy, and beat of the city.
Crafted details and painstakingly worked laminations all go to make up these geometrical maxiglasses, created in natural acetate and with their “form within a form” effect enhanced by the superpositioning of contrasting colors. Vibrant hues like ivory, turquoise, orange, red or violet blend with havanas, browns, blues, and greens to create a delicate effect, all put together with leading-edge technology.
The new Etnia Barcelona #BeAnartist campaign is an authentic fiesta. Mambo leads us through the most iconic parts of El Raval, the liveliest, most cultural, most cosmopolitan district of Barcelona.
An itinerary along which our protagonists are drawn by the hustle and bustle of La Boquería, drawing them to the traditional, generational stalls like “La Pepi”, the fishmonger’s, or to the bar of Pinotxo Bar.
Our route then takes us out into the streets of the Raval and along to MACBA, the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art, where art comes together with a multitude of skaters from all over the world with whom we can chat. It then takes us on to Carrer Hospital, where our protagonists are enraptured by the intense colors and aromas of businesses from all over the world.
Then, down Riera Baixa, one of the most legendary streets of Barcelona, they dive into the mountains of vinyl discs at Wah Wah Records, a true temple to the gods of music. Finally, they come to La Paloma, a fabled club in El Raval and the very musical soul of the district.
La Paloma first opened its doors in the 1920s and has hosted the dances and celebrations of many generations. On crossing the threshold of the club, our protagonists and their friends, step into a very special place, bursting with positive energy. A place in which freedom, joy, and pure hedonism are the order of the day.
La Paloma then morphs into a dreamlike scene in which a white horse appears under the glittering lamp that has always illuminated the dance floor of the legendary dance hall.
Oneiric images, brimming over with a force that reflects the energy of these different places that make Barcelona one of the world’s truly unique cities.
Mambo, a collection that invites us to dream of repossessing that freedom to go back out and dance. Stay tuned, this is just the beginning!
About Etnia Barcelona
Etnia Barcelona was first born as an independent eyewear brand back in 2001. All its collections are developed from beginning to end by the brand’s own design team, who are fully responsible for the entire creative process. Above all, Etnia Barcelona stands out for the use of color in each and every one of its designs. Today it is the firm with the most color references in the entire eyewear sector. All its glasses are crafted in the highest quality natural materials, such as Mazzucchelli natural acetates and Barberini mineral lenses.
Today the firm boasts offices in Barcelona, Miami, Vancouver, and Hong Kong and is present in over 60 countries, with 14,000 points of sale dotted around the world. The heart of the Barcelona Born district is home to the company’s first Flagship Store, a spectacular seven-story temple to eyewear culture, displaying all the very best of the brand.
#BeAnartist is the very watchword of Etnia Barcelona. It is a call to express oneself freely through design. Etnia Barcelona embraces color, art, and culture but, more than anything else, it is a name intimately bound to the city in which it was born and has thrived. Barcelona represents a lifestyle open to the world, nothing more nor less than a question of attitude.
Etnia Barcelona remains firmly committed to sustainability. From the very outset, the marque has always worked with the highest quality natural materials: premium cotton and wood-based acetates and mineral lenses for its sunglass collections. For packaging, Etnia uses 100% recyclable cardboard made from certified sustainable sources, and a biodegradable corn-based composite. With measures such as these, the firm has reduced its use of plastic by 70 tonnes and continues with further efforts to reduce CO2 emissions.
All Etnia Barcelona Collections are produced in the firm’s own facilities, working with technologies designed to reduce the company’s environmental impact while creating an enduring quality product. The manufacturer likewise ensures its production lines meet the highest ethical standards and contribute to sustaining a circular economy. Etnia Barcelona continues to make every effort to ensure its place as a sustainable brand.
