Pantone Picks 2019’s Color Of The Year

Some people follow Fashion Week in Paris. Some in Milan. Some in London. Some in New York. These are the showcases that outline what many of us will be wearing for years to come. Whether it’s the upcoming fashion season or the closeout bins at our nearest discount store.

How many of us are granted front row seats to any of those events?

There is a fifth event that the fashion world takes just as seriously and that occurred last week when Pantone, the color standards company, unveiled their 2019 Pantone Color of the Year, “Living Coral”.

Last year you may remember, the color for 2018 was UltraViolet and we certainly saw our fair share of eyeglass frames that showcased that color. This year, it is back to nature, though you better hold your breath, since we are diving into the coral reefs that provide so much to marine life in our seas.

Pantone does not predict colors, they look into what other companies are doing, and showing, to try and coordinate and help other companies keep up with the cutting edge trends. Anyone who has looked at the colors of the new iPhone 7 knows Coral was one of the choices this fall.

Several eyewear companies have shared some snapshots of coral colors in their lineups which we would like in turn share with you. Some are a very close match, others give a hint or nod at the coral color.
