Peoples from Barbados frame designs highlight colors of the sea, the sun, and the sand. The Bajan brand by optometrist and boutique owner Alicia Hartman translates these natural elements into chic Caribbean-inspired eyewear for men and women.
In a series of beach images created to evoke the unique textures, colors, and natural vegetation of the Caribbean island, the characteristic inspiration of the PFB line is easy to identify.
Luxurious and glam, for city or beach, style PFB-03 has a round eye shape with a delicate lift on the outer rim, recalling the pointed detail of the classical cat’s eye. Colorways range from black/grey with a matt finish to green/tortoise with a smoke gradient lens. Style PFB-13 has a delicately beveled or sculpted surface, and a cat-eye inspired shape with soft edges combined with the signature stainless steel temples. The color combinations include the stunning lilac tones inspired by a Bajan storm and a deep red/tortoise combination that combines perfectly with gold stainless steel temples.
For those who seek an edgy design, style PFB-16 has a statement flat top brow-line and is an ideal shape for narrow or longer faces. The superb Japanese polishing techniques give a luxurious shine to matt finish. Colour combinations include a shiny black tortoise and an eye-catching red/tortoise. All 3 PFB designs can be provided with blue block lenses with AR coatings for computer glare and night driving.
“My handmade frames embody the spirit of the island and my passion for this beautiful place. Every color and texture, every combination and creative detail has been inspired by the beauty of Barbados, our culture, and our daily life…” Alicia Hartman, Founder
PFB frames have a beautiful, luxury feel and a lightweight and comfortable construction with a unique pure design and a modern screw-less hinge. All frames are RXable and feature the signature acetate and stainless-steel temples with end tips matching the fronts. The frames are made to fit all faces and to include the faces of beautiful Caribbean Peoples.
The frames are produced exclusively by artisans in Japan. Sunset tones and bespoke gradient flash tints (for sunglasses) are a key theme in the color range which, for each model, presents 4 Bajan inspired colorways.
People From Barbados
Alicia Hartman first launched Peoples from Barbados as a Special Edition tribute collection at her luxury store EYE Q Stylist Opticians in 2016 to mark the island’s 50th Anniversary of independence. Since that time the collection has grown and expanded and is now stocked in unique optical and fashion stores around the world. Charitable projects have been a focus for the brand which also gives back to the community through special collaborations with local artists, photographers, and creatives of the island. PFB works with the photographers Jaryd Niles-Morris, Adrian Richards, and Kristopher Streek and has raised money for Parkinson’s and for disadvantaged children in Barbados. The PFB packaging depicts a local scene from the black and white ‘town’ series by the Bajan artist, Sheena Rose. www.sheenaroseart.com
