Top 13 Reasons to Attend Optical State Trade Shows

Opto- West is coming up, I am very excited to be attending this show. It will be held at the Hyatt Grand Champion Resort in Indian Wells, CA, April 2-5th.  ( It is always nice that an State trade show is located in a wonderful location. I’ve been to the Resort- it’s great, the rooms are large, the staff nice and their is a ton of things to do.

I know you may be jaded about yet again another trade show, the cost attending, the time spent and yes you need the CE but you are going to try to get it locally-  so you won’t attend. I hope if you are thinking that way- to please reconsider attending your State Trade Show for the following reasons:

1.) Opportunity to meet new people/ network and trade ideas and re-energize yourself.

2.) Not distracted- Give the whole weekend event your time, focus and energy.

3.) Support your State Association. Trade Shows are an important non-dues revenue source for state association. It costs money for States to provide Education and Lobbying . Attending state trade shows, offsets the costs. (So you don’t have to pay it in dues.)

4.) Keep up on new products and Services. Helps you to remain competitive in the industry.

5.) Gain Knowledge- not just CE, Knowledge is power. Gather as much information as you can. Find out what new products, manufacturing techniques and services are available to you that can help you expand your business and increase productivity and profitability.

6.) What is the competition doing? How do you compare? What are their strengths and weaknesses? How can you be better, different and outshine them?

7.) Great Education- Your State Association usually has a selection of Topics and Speakers.

8.) See and support your local reps and smaller companies that cannot afford Vision Expo.

9.) Send Staff- Gives your staff needed information and training- plus it’s a great perk and motivator or them.

10.) Discover new revenue streams.

11.) Smaller shows allow you the time to visit each exhibitor and pick their brains.

12.) Show specials- Many companies will offer show specials, that are not available to your local rep. This is a good time to make purchases.

13.) They are fun!
