Transitions Optical Arms Hispanic Nurses With Eye Health Education During 2014 NAHN Annual Conference

trans-1MIAMI, July, 2014 – Continuing its support of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN), Transitions Optical, Inc. served as a Bronze-level sponsor and provided eye health education and resources to Hispanic nurses and educators during the NAHN 39th Annual Conference, held July 15-18 in Miami.

More than 400 attendees received information about the unique eye health risks and needs of Hispanics, and were encouraged to take steps within their own practices and communities to educate this at-risk population about the importance of getting regular eye exams and wearing the right eyewear to correct, protect and enhance their vision. Transitions Optical’s Diversity Advisory Board member, cultural diversity trainer and nurse educator, Charlotte Parniawski, RN, MSN, CNE, was also at the booth to speak with attendees.

trans-3In April 2014, Transitions Optical and NAHN announced a national partnership to reach Hispanic communities with eye health information. Resources in both English and Spanish – including the popular “What to Expect: Hispanic Eyes” brochure and bilingual Eye Disease Diagnosis Guide – will be made available to NAHN members throughout the year at nahnnet.org/transitions_optical.html.

Through the partnership, Transitions Optical will also provide education and resources to NAHN chapter heads during the NAHN Leadership Retreat in January 2015.
