What’s It Worth Shark Eyeglass Cases

The Optical Journal - Optical News With Independent Views

It is really hard to write about Skarkskin eyeglasses cases. With the amount of shark finning and the killing of sharks, one has to wonder how they got the skin. Shark skin at one time was used for eyeglass cases.

Dried, but untanned sharkskin is called shagreen and was once used for sandpaper and the membranes on drums in places like the South Pacific.  We found a vintage Sharkskin Eyeglass case that sold for almost $500 back in 2010.

From Aspire Auctions:  Sold for $465.00 in 2010
